Core Values
A Student Can Feed Himself
“Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever.”
Good students know how to eat for a lifetime because they do not wait for someone to hand them a fish. Instead, they have the tools to investigate information on their own.
Tutors are More Than Study Buddies
A tutor’s job is not just to help with homework or study for tests. The responsibility of a tutor, or any teacher, is to train students to have the necessary skills so that they know how to do homework and study for tests independently.
The Curriculum is the Plan, Not the Objective
An instructor’s curriculum is his/her plan for imparting truths; it is not the learning objective. The end goal is to see life transformation on the part of the student. With this in mind, a good curriculum is flexible, and changes based on the needs of the student.
Teachers are Expert Decision Makers
A teacher’s job is to facilitate learning, no matter what this may entail. He/she is able to interpret a student’s confidence level and questions to know in which direction to move next. When in doubt, the teacher knows which resources to consult for help.
